We serve clients nationwide through 4 core service areas: Advisory, Tax Services, Assurance, and Wealth Management Services.
Who we’re looking for
A Tax Associate with a tax or general accounting focus who aligns to our values and has a high level of professionalism to best partner with our team and serve our clients. The Tax Associate will primarily be responsible for the preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, and trust income tax returns, financial statements, and general ledger maintenance and account analysis. This position requires a strong foundational understanding of accounting principles with a desire to build your technical skills and knowledge. We have flexible location options in one of six Iowa offices: Cedar Rapids, Burlington, Mount Pleasant, Fairfield, Centerville, or Oskaloosa.
Essential Functions
- Under the general supervision of a Senior Tax Associate and/or Tax Manager, prepare tax returns, perform accounting work, research tax questions, and counsel clients on tax issues
- Develop quality client relationships and partner with them to best serve their needs
- Review previous tax returns and financial documents to identify missing or incomplete information or documentation
- Use various accounting technology to prepare tax returns and submit for review as part of the internal firm review process
- Consult with clients to develop a basic understanding of their financial affairs and the scope of their tax liabilities
- Meet time constraints, billable hours targets, and client deadlines
- Review all supplied financial information for accuracy
- Consult tax law publications for guidance on unusual situations
- Maintain understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law by reading professional literature and/or attending tax seminars and continuing education courses
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- A strong alignment and willingness to consistently demonstrate TDT’s core values (Honest,Authentic, United, Devoted)
- Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Proficiency with various tax/accounting related software applications as well as MicrosoftOffice (Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Teams, Share Point, etc.) and the ability to stay ahead of the curve with continual technology advancements
- Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in a professional manner when dealing with clients and other staff members
- Appropriate interpersonal skills and ability to develop good relationships with clients and other staff members
- Demonstrate a high level of discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to execute and collaborate effectively in a hybrid environment (onsite and virtual)
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Must maintain current and valid auto insurance coverage as required by state law
Working Conditions
- Occasional same day travel for work at clients, meetings, and seminars using a personal vehicle
- Occasional out of town travel with overnight stay for work at clients, meetings, or seminars using a personal vehicle
- Occasional overtime work required throughout the year; heavy overtime work required from January 1 to April 15

Who we’re looking for
Experienced Assurance Manager responsible for supervising and completing assurance engagements that is excited to develop a new audit service line for the Firm in addition to serving current clients through review and compilation engagements. This individual will manage communications directly with clients, oversee and provide guidance to staff, and play a key role in supporting the firm’s business development initiatives.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for all phases of audit, compilation or review engagements
- Provide exceptional service to clients through individual attention, responsiveness, and commitment to understanding their goals and needs
- Utilize technical skills to deliver high quality work aligned with professional and firm standards
- Maintain understanding and knowledge of changes in assurance standards by reading professional literature or attending seminars and training courses
- Participate in planning, scheduling, and reviewing client engagements
- Meet time constraints, billable hours targets, and client deadlines
- Contribute to the development of new business opportunities by participating in strategic business development initiatives
- Keep partners informed of important developments on engagements; analyze problems and recommend solutions.
- Supervise staff and delegate work to various team members as deemed necessary
- Prepare client invoices as well as monitor realization, utilization, and other performance measures of supervised staff
- Participate in staff evaluation process
- Performs other such duties as may be assigned
Requirements
- A strong alignment and willingness to consistently demonstrate TDT’s core values (Honest, Authentic, United, Devoted)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Certified Public Accountant certification
- Minimum five years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in assurance complexity, scope, and research Minimum of one year of experience supervising and/or directing work of assurance staff
- A solid understanding of GAAP, accounting and assurance standards, accrual-based accounting, quality control standards and procedures
- Strong analytical skills
- Proficient with computer financial statement preparation, research, and audit programs as well as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Teams, Share Point, etc.) and the ability to stay ahead of the curve with continual technology advancements
- Demonstrated high level of discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) professionally when dealing with clients and other staff members

We are currently seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant to support our Fairfield, Iowa office location. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join our professional team.
Position Overview
The Administrative Assistant will be essential in keeping our office running smoothly by handling a variety of clerical and administrative tasks. This role requires exceptional organization, keen attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who thrives in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize client tax information and documents.
- Call and follow up with clients regarding tax documentation and appointments.
- Greet clients warmly at the front desk and ensure a positive experience.
- Deliver completed tax returns to clients and assist with final documentation.
- Make and enter office deposits accurately and timely.
- Scan and organize documents for digital record-keeping.
- Handle general administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and mail distribution.
- Schedule and confirm client appointments.
- Assist with assembling tax returns and other client deliverables.
- Support office staff with special projects and tasks as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in an administrative or office support role preferred.
- Professional demeanor and ability to handle confidential information.
- Comfortable handling phone calls and interacting with clients.
- Basic understanding of income tax forms and processes (experience with 1040s is a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document handling.

Preferred Qualifications

Job Details
- Full-time position.
- Monday to Friday, with potential for extended hours during peak periods.
- Hourly rate of $20.00 - $22.00 based on experience and qualifications.
